IN THIS ISSUE... While we love to bring you information on the art, science, and philosophy of chiropractic, this issue's focus on technology and software actually supports chiropractic's principles more than I could have imagined! With our main interest in learning more about health, let's face it, technology usually isn't something that any of us likes to pay much attention to...until we realize that it's not going away! I'll admit that the time and attention required to implement any new technology seems unbearable until, one day, you wonder how you ever survived without it. As a chiropractor, one of your future "can't live without it" diagnostic tools is bound to be the Surface EMG unit described by Dr. David Marcarian on page 32 and Dr. Christopher Kent on page 34. That's quite a claim!! Why has TAC voted this as the technological unit to feature in this issue? Because it is something that ALL chiropractors can agree on That's right! Both "principled" and "mixer" chiropractors can use this in their clinics and finally realize the actual power and efficacy of their adjustments. I recently had the privilege of attending a seminar (which you'll find out more about in the January issue), in which the sEMG units were featured and it has convinced me, as a chiropractic patient, of the continual need for chiropractic care on a wellness and preventative basis rather than simply corrective care. In addition to the diagnostic tools, you'll find info on the ever-important developments in technology that help you to get paid faster! Be sure to check out Don Biresch's article on page 20 and Michael Williamson's article on page 40. Nutritionally, I'd like to draw your attention, especially, to Dr. Seaman's article, page 14, on a particular favorite of mine, ginger! Did not know, though, that it could be so effective in treating inflammation and pain. Did you? This is a one-page article that could make a big difference in your practice and in the lives of your patients! We had another extraordinary and impassioned response to our Fax Survey last issue between Palmer and FCA supporters, as you'll see on page 42, as well as in The Forum, beginning on page 24. According to our readers, the profession is not as divided as we're often led to believe—at least not on the subject of public vs. private chiropractic education. In fact, as we reflect on the passing of yet another year, we have a special feature beginning on Page 26, which pays tribute to the chiropractic professionals who served at Ground Zero. Dawn Lindley's and Dr. Tony Piana's accounts of chiropractors uniting to help out in the aftermath of the World Trade Center crisis are truly moving and inspirational. So, as we begin the new year, we at The American Chiropractor join all of you who are praying and working toward peace, prosperity, and unity on all fronts. And, we thank you, for your continued support. May you be very blessed in 2002! For chiropractic, Jaclyn Busch
