Who designed the front cover of the April Issue (2005)?? "Ease Childbirth, Reduce Scoliosis, Stop Snoring and MORE With These Great Techniques"? All this with a picture of what looks like a man in a suit humping a knight. For the uninitiated, this certainly does not cast chiropractic in a good light. What were you thinking? My perspective may seem surprising, but what is even more surprising is where it came from. That issue was on the reception counter (where the mailman dropped it) and it was a patient who commented on the "treatment the knight was getting." The sexual innuendo was clear. We chiropractors have a very hands-on profession and we (chiropractors, colleges, and publishers) must guard our reputation against misrepresentation. Everyone likes a joke, but let's just keep the jokes off the front cover. Dr. Joseph Olejak TAC Responds: While we thank Dr. Olejak for his comments, obviously we did not have that take on the photo or we wouldn'/ have selected it as a cover shot. We simply saw a good-natured chiropractor giving a knight an adjustment on the lower vertebra of the spine, using a common technique utilized by many full spine adjusters. And, while humorous, the image of a knight being adjusted does serve the purpose of illustrating that everyone everywhere needs chiropractic care. We do appreciate the feedback, though, and will exercise more caution in the future.
