International Over 300 named chiropractic techÂniques exist worldwide. However, in a recent survey by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, only a handful of them are used by the majority of chiropractors. The most widely-used techÂnique is Diversified, which is taught in every chiropractic college and utilized by 96 percent of DCs. Second is the Activator Method, the world's most popular instrument adjusting technique used by 69 percent of doctors surveyed and taught in three-quarters of U.S. chiropractic colleges. Sixty-one percent of DCs in the study use Thompson, 57 percent use Gonstead, 56 percent use Cox, 49 percent use SOT, and 37 percent use Applied Kinesiology. In terms of research, the three most widely-studied techniques that are supported by a substantial collection of peer-reviewed papers are, in order. Diversified, Activator Method, and Cox. In the last decade, the peer-reviewed papers on technique have improved tremendously and now provide practical information to the clinician.
