DR. KIRK GAIR, DC, IDE, BEGAN INCORPORATING Cold Laser Treatments into his chiropractic practice in 2004, achieving remarkable results by combining them with traditional care. Since then, he has worked with gold medalists, world record holders, Super Bowl and World Series champions, as well as top high school and college athletes across the country. His expertise also extends to helping patients with chronic illnesses and traumatic brain injuries.
Dr. Gair’s pioneering laser protocols have earned him recognition in Dr. Izabella Wentz’s documentary The Thyroid Secret and her New York Times best seller Hashimoto’s Protocol. He also has a long-standing professional connection with Dr. Datis Kharrazian, best-selling author of Why Isn’t My Brain Working? and Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms When My Lab Tests Are Normal?— as Dr. Gair was the first person Dr. Kharrazian ever ran labs on while they were classmates in 1996.
A sought-after guest on summits and podcasts, Dr. Gair teaches doctors worldwide through webinars and live seminars, sharing his proven laser therapy methods. Beyond chiropractic, he is bilingual in Spanish, a former high school and college football player, and a musician. He played lead guitar in an alternative band and wrote and produced a relaxing guitar album that has been featured in a German travel documentary and nature videos viewed by millions online.
In this episode of TAG Tic Talk, Dr. Joe Busch and Jaclyn Busch (TAG) sat down with Dr. Kirk Gair (KG) to uncover the powerful and often overlooked capabilities of cold laser technology. Dr. Gair discusses the pivotal moment that led him to Erchonia lasers, how they transformed his practice, and the life-changing outcomes he’s witnessed—from saving a teen from amputation to working with elite athletes, gold medalists, and even professional sports teams like the Los Angeles Lakers.
KG: After changes in workers’ comp laws in California, I needed to reinvent my practice and attended a seminar where Dr. Murphy spoke about lasers. They demonstrated immediate improvements in range of motion and muscle strength using a red laser, which amazed me given my background in work comp and sports.
"Combining it with chiropractic enhances results further, offering long-term benefits unlike shortterm options."
Dr. Murphy discussed using lasers since the 1980s, including daily on his brain to prevent decline, convincing me of their potential despite promising my wife not to buy anything. I bought them anyway and asked for forgiveness.
KG: Erchonia impressed me with high-quality research volume, including double-blind studies showing lasers six to seven times more effective than active LEDs. For chronic low back pain, twice-weekly 20-minute sessions reduced pain by 58% on average, with patients 75% better after 12 months without further treatment. Combining it with chiropractic enhances results further, offering long-term benefits unlike shortterm options.
KG: We studied green and violet nonthermal lasers on patients with a five-year average chronic neck and shoulder pain at five out of 10. A single session reduced pain by 30% or more in 81% immediately, improving to mid-60% at 48-hour follow-up, outperforming red light therapies. Results led to FDA clearance for chronic pain and a peer-reviewed publication in 2022, debunking myths about violet wavelengths only affecting skin.
KG: Athletes often come for injuries like rotator cuff tears, where lasers regenerate tissue, sometimes avoiding surgery and enabling faster, stronger returns. We laser the brain for enhanced function, balance, and ATP production using violet, green, and red wavelengths to support all mitochondrial complexes.
A 2017 study showed preand post-competition lasering boosts muscle strength and recovery like performance drugs, giving an unfair advantage, which we applied to help a CrossFit champion compete pain-free and rank top globally.
KG: For back pain and plantar fasciitis, hands-free sessions provide huge reductions, stackable with other therapies and generating referrals. It delays knee replacements, aids post-op recovery with 30-70% faster healing and lower infection rates. For neurodegeneration, lasering the brain with cranial activities enhances performance and addresses risks like dementia, affecting one in two people per JAMA statistics.
KG: Ensure lasers are FDA-cleared to avoid board violations; Erchonia’s autism study, a quadruple-blind crossover on PubMed, showed enhanced brain blood flow and behavior via nonthermal FX laser versus LEDs. Results were so good that the FDA required audits, threatening pharma by reducing medication needs. We’re advancing studies on Alzheimer’s, dementia, and Parkinson’s since 2009.
KG: I prefer the FX405 combining red and violet for highest energy at 3.1 electron volts, triggering photochemical reactions, unlike lower-energy infrared’s thermal effects. Apply over carotid arteries to bypass the skull via circulation, as Russians did since the 1970s. It’s FDA-cleared full-body for nonthermal pain and infl aimnation.
To give you a clear idea of how an outstanding chiropractor runs his practice, we asked Dr.Gairto share some of the products and equipment he relies on to achieve his goal of bringing health to his community.
Diagnostic Equipment: I use a MyoVision ThermoVision T2 for thermal imaging, which demonstrates pre-and post-treatment changes in temperature and blood flow. All other diagnostics are referred out.
Lasers: Erchonia’s red and violet handheld laser (EVRL),the XLR8 Dual Red Laser, and the GVL Laser.
Rehabilitation Equipment: I use a vibration plate for lymphatic drainage support after Zerona treatments for fat loss. For brain rehabilitation,! use BrainTap along with various apps such as Duolingo, Lumosity, and Focus Builder, combining them with laser therapy during patient sessions.
Nutritional Supplements: Primarily Apex Energetics, since I completed my functional medicine training with Dr. Datis Kharrazian, who formulated many of their products. I also use select supplements from Metagenics.
Computer Software: JaneApp has been excellent for scheduling and EHR management in a cashbased practice.

KG: Wavelengths yield specific reactions: violet breaks scar tissue and boosts immunity against bacteria and viruses like COVID and MRSA; green impacts stem cells most; red aids proliferation. Avoid non-FDA-cleared devices; myths like higher power equaling faster results ignore research showing time-dependent body reactions. Pulsing at 40 Hz breaks protein misfoldings in neurodegeneration.
KG: With Dr. Murphy in Marina del Rey, California, for six hours hands-on; Arkansas state conference; September in Columbus, Ohio. Erchonia’s annual meeting in South Carolina with Dr. Trevor Berry; December in New York and Georgia for Life East.
KG: Most underutilize lasers beyond pain, but they enhance nervous and immune systems like adjustments. Start for personal brain health to prevent dementia, stimulating neurotrophic factors for sharper cognition — I’ve harnessed my ADHD this way. It attracts non-chiropractic patients, building trust for adjustments and referrals, fitting philosophy by unlocking innate healing.
KG: One of my first cases was a 16-y ear-old girl with complex regional pain syndrome. Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles recommended amputating her leg after six months of failed treatments.
Combining chiropractic with Erchonia lasers, I reversed it in three weeks, saving her leg and altering her life trajectory. If I hadn’t adopted lasers, I couldn’t have helped her, highlighting their transformative potential.
KG: The Lakers contacted me for injury management and recovery enhancement. I demonstrated at their facility how lasers dampen inflammation and improve strength.
Treating their strength coach, Randy Flores, eliminated his knee pain during squats, and his wife Bethany, a CrossFitter in chronic pain for 18 years, became pain-free and ranked number one in the U.S. and fourth worldwide. It provides an edge; as studies suggest, it’s like performance-enhancing drugs.
KG: I was a test site for Erchonia’s clinical trials on peripheral neuropathy, showing good results versus LEDs, though no FDA clearance yet. It’s beneficial, but advertise carefully to avoid board violations because no laser currently has clearance for it. Doctors in California have lost licenses for improper claims. Always ensure your device is FDA-cleared for marketed uses.
KG: For long COVID patients, lasering the brain with cranial activities like smell stimulation helps regain lost taste and smell. It’s a common application in chiropractic, supporting overall brain performance enhancement. Combined with other protocols, it addresses neurodegeneration risks amplified by the condition.
KG: Russian studies since 1974, like Sergei Moskovin’s work, show lasers regenerating organs like the pancreas and liver, approved as state-sponsored care. They treat over arteries for conditions like chronic asthma using high-energy red lasers. This inspires off-label understanding; while not claiming to treat diabetes, lasering supports overall health in patients with related issues.
KG: Highly effective; my vet recommended euthanizing my cat with 90% pancreas destruction, but lasering regenerated 80% in a week, prompting the vet to adopt lasers. It reduced my diabetic cat’s insulin needs, extending life six years, aligning with Russian research regenerating organs since 1974. Test on pets first to build confidence; a paralyzed dog walked after four sessions.
