Photobiomodulation for Peak Brain Performance

By Ryan Novak, DC

Even though rapid advancements in computer technology, including AI, have developed in the past five years that have apparently made our lives more efficient and productive, there also seems to be a rapid decline in neurocognitive performance across many populations.

These advancements in computer technology may allow photobiomodulation therapy to become the technologically advanced treatment of choice for neurocognitive impairments in the future. An ever-growing database of recent research articles supports the use of photobiomodulation for peak brain performance:

  • World Journal of Neuroscience — Vol.13, No.1, February 2023: “Photobiomodulation with Super-Pulsed Laser Shows Efficacy for Stroke and Aphasia: Case Studies”

  • Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease Reports — Vol. 7, January 2023: “Transcranial Photobiomodulation Treatment: Significant Improvements in Four Ex-Football Players with Possible Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy”

  • Neurophysiology — Vol. 8, Issue 48, December 2022: “Transcranial Photobiomodulation Enhances Visual Working Memory Capacity in Humans”

  • World Journal of Neuroscience — Vol. 12, No. 3, August 2022: “Efficacy of Photobiomodulation for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): Case Studies”

  • Frontier Neuroscience — Vol. 16, July 2022: “The Effect of Photobiomodulation on the Brain During Wakefulness and Sleep”

If you are a chiropractic physician interested in peak brain performance, you may want to do a deep dive into the research on photobiomodulation therapy for peak brain performance.

Please note that at the time this article was written, the FDA had not cleared any devices to treat any neurocognitive disorders, diseases, or conditions.
