In this issue... W r mi our focus this issue on Sports Exercise & Rehabilitation, we have two very special interviews. Beginning on page 20, we take a peek into the active lifestyle of a former Olympic athlete and current sports chiropractor, Jeff Spencer, DC. Dr. Spencer's work with 6-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong is a real testament to the efficacy of chiropractic treatment in reaching optimal athletic performance. To expand on Dr. Spencer's interview, beginning on page 26, we're including a more mature perspective from Dr. Harold McCoy who was one of the real pioneers in this movement, having also worked with Olympic stars like Evander Holyfield back in the '80's. Dr. McCoy's over 30 years (and still counting) of adjusting and commitment to chiropractic and, more importantly, to his patients, offers us all a lot of wisdom. Not one to dwell on the past, though, he shares what really keeps him motivated and impassioned to stay in practice today. His dedication to making scientific evidence-based chiropractic a reality promises chiropractic the worldwide respect and admiration it deserves, as well as easier access to chiropractic care for more of the population that really need it. For all of your patients—athletes and couch potatoes alike—you'll want to find out more about the Neuromuscular Reeducation (NMR) Technique featuring Dr. Peter Levy's work. This is a soft tissue technique that you can use in conjunction with whatever your favorite adjusting techniques may be. NMR treats the stressed muscles that are pulling the bones out of place and, ultimately, causing the subluxations. This is a very exciting concept and it really makes a lot of sense! If you'd like to get quicker results for your patients and "beat" those recurring subluxations, then take a closer look at the NMR technique featured on page 34 and be sure to write us to tell us about your own experiences with this and any other soft tissue techniques! A new column we're starting up this issue is by Attorney Deborah Green, called "Behind the News" on page 62. This is really an addition to our yellow pages found always at the back of every issue of TAC with all of the latest "dirt" happening in and around the chiropractic profession. Well, with Ms. Green's access to lawsuits and legal proceedings, we've asked her to pick at least one case per issue to analyze close up so we can help keep you out of our famous "Yellow Pages". This issue Ms. Green has a quick quiz for you to check to see if you're running any risk of being entangled in a lawsuit. Of course, there's always much more! You'll want to see our recap of the Annual Florida Chiropractic Association's National Seminar in Orlando, Florida, on pages 54-55. Also, be sure to check our Seminar Calendar on page 56, for a seminar near (or far from) home! Jaclyn Busch Touzard Executive Editor [email protected] Keep up the great work! For chiropractic,
