In This Issue The focus of this issue is Technology and Office Management. You may ask, how does our cover story with Dr. Phillip Santiago on • Anti-aging fit under that heading? Interestingly, upon reading the interview with Dr. Santiago, you'll realize that the use of technology in the healthcare market is changing. We're not discussing the internet or computer documentation programs, but rather the technology being created and used in diagnosing your patients HEALTH rather than disease. Now THAT is advancement in the use of technology and office management in a chiropractic office. Find out how you can anti-age your practice in the interview with Dr.Phillip Santiago beginning on page 23. Chiropractic is, in essence, an Anti-Aging discipline, anyway. And now, the technology exists to measure the efficacy of treatment! ; Along this same line, Dr Kim Christensen talks about "Rehab and the Aging Factor" on page 38. Exercise and rehabilitation do require certain precautions when treating elderly patients. Dr. Christensen teaches you some modified protocols, common sense and the flexibility you need to apply with rehabilitation of your older patients. Also, be sure to read Dr. Sanna's article on Multidisciplinary Practices (pg. 27), since it looks like this is where healthcare is headed, and it CAN be done ethically, for your benefit and the benefit of your patients. Then, Dr. Cima (pg. 29) offers some sound advice as to how to get the best out of others-your patients, your staff, your relatives, EVERYBODY-as you continue to grow your practice! And Jake Ladenheim (pg. 32) spells out exactly how you and your staff should be "coding"-and how you should NOT. In the realm of nutrition, Dr. Loomis (pg. 12) makes specific, sensible recommendations for treating the good ole "Sick and Tired" syndrome with the proper enzyme therapy; Dr. George Roth (pg. 21) advises of a new approach to spinal care which considers "primary areas of tension" as, perhaps, causing some subluxations, and which, when corrected, can spontaneously correct those subluxations; and Dr. Mark Charette (pg. 19) reminds us of an ancient and too-often ignored healthcare device for acceleration of healing and reduction of pain: The magnet! Finally, you'll notice that the dates of the first ever Chiro Offshore 2000 seminar is being moved from October, 2000, to March of 2001...thus the new name "Chiropractic 2001". As this will be our first time inviting you all down here to Panama, we want to make sure that you come here during the best time of year, which is our summer. Be sure to look up more information on the inside front cover of this issue or check out our website at www.amchiropractor.com to get updated information on the seminar as it becomes available. Keep sending us your comments! And be sure to fill out the reader survey on page 9 and fax or mail it to us. Jaclyn Busch [email protected]
