Why All the Expensive Waters?
January 1 2000 Fred Van Liew

So you ask, "Why are we paying four dollars for a twenty-ounce bottle of water?" I respond, "Good question! Let's take a look." Today, water is being accepted as a basic necessity for good health. Problem is, everyone has a different idea what kind of water we should be drinking. We can select designer waters high in minerals, low in minerals, high in oxygen, highly alkaline, catalyst altered, ionized, energized, slightly acid, distilled, reverse osmosis, double distilled or double reverse osmosis, spring water, just plain drinking water, filtered only or regular tap water-with or without chlorine and fluoride. Let's not forget the distilled waters for infants with fluoride added, or those slightly sweetened with fruit essence. So which water have you selected for your poison or passion? Have you made a good decision? Let's take a close look at some of these options. The acid/alkaline issue is hot right now, so we'll address this before the mineral issue. The body is designed to operate most efficiently in an alkaline condition. When we die, we go acid, and a number of natural mechanisms seem to be put on notice to turn us to mush and fertilizer quickly. This is good. Problems come when we go acid from poor diet, stress, negative thoughts and other environmental factors. These mechanisms don't seem to understand you're not dead, so they go to work as if you were. With this scenario, it would make good sense to change the environment within the body back to alkaline. Enter alkaline water, right? Wrong! In most instances placing alkaline water into the body does not necessarily have an alkalizing effect on the body as a whole. It may contribute to a temporary artificial alkalizing of the blood, which may give a sense of well-being. Your overall health is not necessarily improving at this point. The extra water you are drinking to justify the steep price you paid for the machine or bottled water may be hydrating you for the first time in years. This hydration, alone, will show more health benefit in more people than any other single factor in a dehy- drated body. It is the foods you eat that truly alkalize the body. This is determined by the ash left after the food has been digested or "burned." The poor diet of most people now requires alkalizing supplementation. The best is from green plants. The worst may be the minerals found in water. The metallic form of calcium usually found in alkaline waters is not very bio-available in an acid or an alkaline body. A "coral" based water additive may be more bio-available because it is a plant/animal, but this is a costly source of calcium and trace minerals. If used, it should be used in a pure reverse osmosis type of water. So you guessed, my vote is not to use alkaline water as a necessary health benefit. The free electrons developed in the electrolysis process used to make alkaline "micro water" is of some benefit to the body, as is the "micronizing" or wetter water effect this process has on ; water. The process allows many substances to remain in the water that should not be ingested. A few ounces per day would be the maximum recommended. The rest of the water should be pure. (Please note, the author has not seen anyone respond to alkalized water who was already drinking enough good reverse osmosis water daily. Energize your reverse osmosis water, and you have the most satisfying result.) Next, let's look at the mineral issue. As shown in the alkalized water, most all minerals found in water are dissolved rocks. Rockland Corporation, owners of the largest lease of natural plant source minerals in the world, has done extensive testing on many forms of minerals. They have used the finest laboratories in the world and have released the results on original laboratory letterhead, unlike many altered testing results released by other companies. Rockland's studies show conclusively that plant source minerals are up to one million times smaller than their metallic counterparts found in soil or water! Many have had their positive charge changed to a negative charge when "digested" by the plant kingdom. Plants are clearly the primary source of minerals for the body. The mineral content of plants is supposed to be fairly consistent with the plant, allowing a natural craving for certain foods when we need extra supplementation. Water has no consistency when it comes to mineral content. It dissolves whatever it happens to pass through. Much of this turns out to be metallic minerals. Our body does not like metals, unless they are from the plant kingdom. It is interesting that nearly all vegetables contain enormous amounts of aluminum. Most doctors are unaware of this fact and have stated they would not eat a vegetable if it contained aluminum. (This may explain why, according to hotel staff, doctors consume more sugar at hotel functions than any other single group, instead of consuming more vegetables.) The supposed benefits that some bottled mineral waters would claim are largely lost in the bottling process and long shelf storage. Conclusion: Remove the minerals in water, if you can, and buy water low in mineral content. These minerals just contribute to hardening of the arteries and other body stress, and may interfere with essential cellular communication. The fluoride issue and chlorine issue have been beaten to death, but let's address them, just in case. Fluoride is a poison more toxic than lead and only slightly less toxic than arsenic. Like the controversy over mercury amalgam fillings, on which the ADA owns the patents, dentists have been lied to and have actually endured an orchestrated effort to withhold the truths about the negative effects of fluoride on the body. Fluoride interferes with nearly all seven collagen proteins, which is serious enough. But, in every legitimate study, Continued on page 47... ...from page 43 has also led to rare forms of cancer and always mottling of the bones and teeth. The addition of fluoride to pure distilled or reverse osmosis water for infant consumption is an act that should have criminal penalties attached. The known harm that this poison can do when ingested in such pure water cannot be ignored, except for the almighty dollar and the blind ignorance of many medical professionals. Read Dr. John Yiamouyiannis's, "Fluoride, The Aging Factor" or call 1 -800-964-4303 for a free lifesavers, guide to fluoride. Studies have now shown chlorine to promote a dramatic increase in many forms of cancer. Let's face it, chlorine is put in the water to kill live organisms. What are we? Inside and outside our bodies, chlorine kills live cells and depresses immune function. It destroys intestinal flora, which is our main source of stress, reducing vitamins and our front-line defense against foreign organisms. Chlorine and fluoride should be removed from waters or beverages you choose to consume. We can look at oxygenated waters and find that, though they bring more oxygen to the body, they do not bring energy to the body. Energetically, nearly all bottled waters are below neutral. This means the body has to find or create energy to compensate for the depressing effect most drinking water has on the body. Yes, the body needs the water to function, but the goal should be to provide the body with healing energy whenever possible. Water has not been a reliable source for healing energy until recently. Actually, thousands of years ago, the water appears to have been a primary source of natural healing energy. A few high energy spots still exist on earth, but they are exceptionally rare. Many man-made "energy" waters are surfacing, with very poor results, at best, and most appear totally fraudulent. However, a German electronic lighting engineer named Manfred Bauer has learned to energize water in a very natural way from radiant earth energy. This author's own experience with Manfred Bauer's water includes going on a fourteen-day pure water fast consisting of energized reverse osmosis water with no juices or solids. A few swallows a day of Manfred's Life Force Water were included. No supplements of any kind were used during the fast. This fast was effortless! No hunger, no fatigue during a full work schedule, and a staff that begged me to go back on the fast when I broke it on the fourteenth day. I had roller bladed on the eleventh day and dug up a ten-year-old water tank in Dr. Karl Parker's back yard on the thirteenth day! Six months later, I'm on the tenth day of an all water high energy fast and I take a five-hour strenuous hike up to Angels Landing in Zion National Park in Utah. No challenge to the body, even though physically I was quite out of shape. So much for the need for more mineral electrolytes! It would appear that it is the energy itself we should be looking at, not the electrolytes. Have you wondered why two patients with the same problem, given the same treatment, respond so differently? Could it be that once the energy blocks are removed by-treatment, the amount of energy available to flow is different in each patient? Chiropractic protocol is being developed to give the body the energy it needs to heal, while the doctors use their techniques to release the free flow of this energy throughout the body. Pure, highly energized water may contribute to chiropractic consistency of results. These new protocols will be first introduced at the Vegas Karl Parker Seminar in February 2000. In summary: Choose pure water rich in energy and oxygen. This eliminates distilled water, as the oxygen is not there and it is one of the most energetically dead of all waters. It is very difficult to revitalize. The choices are, therefore, limited, but reverse osmosis gives you a good start, retaining most vitality-found in its source water. The reverse osmosis process allows a slight increase in the oxygen content of the product water, contributing to excellent taste. You can further energize the water with Manfred Bauer's energy technology. Read the label on a bottled water. If it includes processing by reverse osmosis, buy it. Try to avoid those waters that add minerals back into the water. They are usually not plant source. ♦:♦ Fred Van Liew, founder of Essential Water & Air, has provided accurate information since 1987 on all types of water and air treatment appliances for chiropractors and their patients.
